This is Io, one of my favorite moons, and I'll tell you why. Io was discovered by Galileo, a very brave man, indeed. Her name comes from a bright and resourceful maiden goddess loved by Zeus (Jupiter) and her lovely four lovely colors come from a sulfur/silicone, a slippery purpled marble.
There’s a volcano that’s been erupting for all of the 18 years humans have been watching it. When you look at the whole moon, the eruptions look little, yes, see that puff of smoke? Darlings, it is not so little. The eruptions stretch about 150 miles out. Not one to let its mother planet push it around, the volcanic blasts create half the force Io would need to motor herself right out of Jupiter’s orbit and into the spacey void.
Io has a solid steely core and a sloshing lava surface. She's is constantly regenerating herself, which heals impact wounds. She doesn’t let Jupiter push her around, and Io is pretty. What more could you ask of a moon?

Wow - fancy and beautiful new blog template Cavu!
And that moon is AWESOME.
That is one full-service moon, no question.
Lo and behold!
Sorry, I couldn't keep that in any longer.
I'm going to get back on my head now.
Thank you.
