Sunshine.... on a Cloudy Day

A Dozen Things I Really Love
(In no particular order)

1. My friends. I know I've droned on about them before, but my Lordy, how did I get so blessed?

2. Big Fat Lazy Breakfasts. Especially the one I just ate at Bad Waitress with Hayes, my brunch buddy who always orders for me and pulls out my chair like he's all chivalrous.

3. My future. I was telling Hayes about my new job and my school plans and all how great summer will be and the possibility of doing an independent study in the Caribbean. It is so bright, I gotta wear shades.

4. My home. I live alone. I was recently reminded of my old roommate, and I am so very thankful for privacy and space and, well, not having her anywhere near me or my stuff.

5. Book ideas. Thoughts are germinating about a thesis (scary) and some other very interesting projects are starting to float to the surface. Wow. This whole studying-my-ass-off thing just might pay off.

6. Cheetoes and Coke. Together. Perhaps I should just make "great food and drink" its own general category.

7. Massages. When the glittering fabric of life begins to look as shiny and fresh as the roller towel in the CC Club men's bathroom, it is high time for a massage. I hold all my tension in my shoulder muscles, and massages do wonders for my outlook on life.

8. Living in a relatively safe, free country and having opportunities and rights. The US of A has a fair share of problems, for sure, but wow--in my work, I see people who come from serious oppression, war, and poverty like nothing I've ever imagined. We are blessed, indeed.

9. Plants and flowers. See "Eat Dirt" below.

10. Forthcoming financial security. And the forthcoming shopping trip with my stylin' personal shopper.

11. The internet and laptop computers. I love e-mailing and looking up stuff on the internet--especially stuff that just bugs you (Who remade Aerosmith's "Walk this Way"? Oh, right, Run DMC). Imagine life without the internet, or having to walk to a computer lab to use dial-up like we had to in early college. Weird.

12. Good weather. Playing in the first snow. The way autumn smells. Thunderstorms on rooftops. Walking outside on the first day it's warm enough to wear a skirt. The big tree out my bedroom window that gets little buds, flowers, then leafy green, then bright yellow. A cold beer on a hot balcony.

what a lovely list. I think I need to write one too, I'm feeling a little too sorry for myself right now.

Very good idea to list what you like.. I would do the same in my blog. Just imagining what I like makes me feel good!

I am joining the trend. Thanks for the happy thoughts Cavu. Can't wait to delve into my own list.

A year in the sun? Awsome.
